Draw Me like One of Your French Girls: Act I (Miyuki Kazuya X Reader)

A/N: I can't fit the whole title dang! Ah, oh well... It definitely has been a while since I’ve written something for fun. I’ve missed this XD Anyway, this is a Diamond no Ace reader insert. I’ve had this one in my head for a while now but I just now finished the first part of it. Partly because the second season to the show is now over and the third (if there’s going to be one) isn’t going to be out for a while since the manga isn’t that far in for another season to be made. So yeah…I’m feelzy about that still =3= but here ya go! Miyuki is (obviously) by far my favorite character so I did one with him. Hopefully his character is close enough and not to OOC. :3 Anyway, I hope you’ll like it~! Enjoy! (:

Please don’t be afraid to comment and/or fav!! Thank you!!! ^w^

    -----------

As the day turning into a blistering hot one, you slowly made your way into the shaded stadium where one of the baseball games were going to be held. You weren’t exactly sure who was playing but you did know it was going to be a good game. One, because of the chatter that people were throwing around you. Two, the place was filling up pretty quickly so with a quick exchange for a ticket you quickly walked around the stadium finding an open spot. To your amazement, you easily found one near the front, right behind the right batter’s box. Smiling, you slowly sat down while gently putting your bag down in front of you.

Waiting for the game to start, you turned your gaze to the teams finding one to be way different from the other. One was rather energetic while the other looked more serious about the whole situation. Well, all of them looked pretty serious about the game. However there was one guy who was being rather loud within the dugout something about not being able to start the game with his pitches. Laughing a bit at his energy, you slowly brought out your sketchbook from your bag and opened it to a new page.

It’s not that you weren’t going to pay attention or anything, you just loved to sketch the various players as they posed at the batter’s box during the game. You can definitely say it was fun drawing out those new poses each player brings to the plate. You got out your pencil keeping an eye on the field seeing that the team with the energetic pitcher on it coming out onto the field. You watched as you got comfortable and started to rack your gaze across each of the players.

    Seido.

That’s what their uniform read. A slight lightbulb began to form within your head as you slowly recognized that name. No wonder people were chatting up a storm at the entrance. They were well known around here. Especially a few of their third year players.

Dating your page at the top right hand corner, you continued to watch as the pitcher got on the mound while the catcher crouched down getting ready to warm up. Suddenly caught up at the scene, your eyes followed the ball as the sidearm pitcher threw a nice pitch. The catcher immediately caught it and threw it back with a few words of encouragement. Now this caught your attention. You never really payed attention to the catcher since well they stayed in the same position most of the time. But this one was oddly…intriguing. Suddenly curious, you saw his number and quickly looked at the score board hoping to find his name up there. Within a matter of seconds you found it.

    Miyuki Kazuya.

Interesting name, sort of. You know you’ve heard that name before. Probably in one of those magazines or something but back to the situation at hand. You watched as he caught another ball before snickering a bit throwing it back to the pitcher. Finally deciding on what to draw for this game, you took out your pencil and started to sketch as the game commenced.

    ------- (Time Skip) -------

Making your way out of the stadium with your sketchbook in hand you smiled since well, Seido won. It wasn’t particular an easy win though. You could easily see that when their batters were having trouble hitting but they also weren’t giving the other team a chance to score either. So it really came down to who could hit past the infield in order to get on base. Each team had several chances to do so but it also came down to who would be more aggressive and obviously it was Seido. Smiling at the thought, you made your way down the stairs that lead to the concessions and bathrooms while another game was starting within the next hour. Today was definitely a busy one for this place. Turning a corner and slowly making your way around passing people you suddenly heard a rather loud gasp from behind. Confused, you whipped your head back towards the sound only to sigh after seeing your friend, Ciara, make her way towards you. Apparently she had the same idea you had today.

“[f/n]! It is you!” She exclaimed smiling big.

“Who else would it be?” You gave her an eyebrow.

“I don’t know but I’m kind of surprised to see you here,” She smiled. “I figured you would be at home cooped up drawing or something.”

“Well you’re half right,” You shrugged bringing her attention to your sketchbook.

“Oh so you were drawing,” She was already reaching for it. Catching her wrist with your hand, you gave her a small warning gaze.

    “Don’t.”

“Right,” She sighed with a small smile. “I forgot how you don’t like people looking at your work…”

“Yeah, so paws off,” You watched her for a second before letting your guard down a bit.

“Can you at least tell me what it is?” She gave you her puppy dog eyes. Man, was she persistent.

“…” You proceeded to look at her until you finally caved and nodded. “Alright, it was just a sketch of one of the players from the Seido team.”

“Oh! Is it now?” She grinned.

“Yeah…” You eyed her, what was she thinking? Obviously nothing good. “Now you know, so see ya.” You started to make your way away from her only to stop once you felt something off. Well rather it was your sketchbook being tugged from your grasp. “Hey!”

“I can’t help it, I have to see it now,” She grinned some more while walking away from you and flipping through your sketches.

“Ciara!” You bellowed in her direction before running after her obviously not happy at all with her selfish actions. “Give it back!”

    “Nope!”

You frowned and started to feel a bit anxious of your drawings but you weren’t really getting any closer to her. Somehow she’s able to slip through the crowd like she’s made of butter while you on the other hand kept bumping into people like it was your job. A little annoyed, you pushed through only to find her standing in the middle of the hallway smirking.

“Now I get it,” She waved your sketchbook in the air.

    “Give it back!”

“Sorry but no,” She giggled. “You have some talking to do missy.”

“What? Why?” You looked at her like she was crazy.

“You know why,” She grinned, you swear her lips could almost touch her ears.

“Uh…” You tried grabbing for your sketchbook but she easily dodged your swiping hands. “No I don’t actually. Not would you just give it back to me!”

“Not until you explain this,” She pointed at the picture. It was the one you just drew today.

“What about it?” You crossed your arms across your chest. “It’s just a drawing that I drew today during the game.”

“Yeah but it’s him,” She swayed your lifeline around in the air.

“So?” You raised your eyebrows watching her grip making sure she wouldn’t accidentally lose it. “I don’t get what you’re trying to say…”

“If he finds out that you drew him he probably won’t let you get away with it,” She explained a little too vaguely.

“Yeah so? That’s if he finds out and obviously he won’t,” You tried snatching it again only for her to back off with a small shake of her head in disapproval.

“That’s just it,” She sighed a bit. “He has his ways.”

“And how would you know that?” You watched her suspiciously.

“Ehh…” She paused before clearing her throat. “Let’s just say I’ve had past experiences with this guy.”

“Is that so,” You dead panned. You weren’t sure what she meant by that but you really didn’t want to find out. You snapped your hand out and gave her a warning look. “Now come on give it back already.”

“Fine,” She huffed and started to pass it back to you. However, just as your finger grazed against the hardback your friend was suddenly pushed by a random person causing your precious sketchbook to go flying. Horrified, you watched as it slammed into the ground and slide across the hallway only to stop short once it hit someone’s shoes. You watched as they stopped in their tracks and looked down curious on what they hit while everyone around them kept walking. Running around people towards them, you stopped in your own tracks realizing who it was your sketchbook bumped into. Itching to grab your drawings, you watched as they or rather he leaned down and picked it up with curiosity etched into his features.

“U-Uh…” Your words caught in your throat hoping to distract his eyes from the current sketch. To your surprise it worked; only now you were staring into those brown eyes behind his framed glasses causing you to freeze as he raised an eyebrow.

“Yeah?” His voice was smooth like cream.

“I-uh,” You struggled to make a coherent sentence.

“I assume this is yours,” His eyes turned back to the sketch only to stiffen as he realized what or rather, who it was. Your breath hitched as you watched him stand there for a second before flipping through the pages causing your heart to do multiple nervous flips. He was looking through your art without even asking! Wanting to make a stand, you stiffened your back only to suddenly flinch away as he held out your sketchbook towards you with a closed expression. “Here.” With a small shaking hand, you grabbed onto the hardback and quickly hugged it tightly to your chest watching him cautiously.

“Thanks…” You mumbled under your breath not sure on how to handle this situation.

“Just think, you might get better if you keep drawing like that,” You heard him snicker a bit before walking away from your still processing figure. Your eyes widened a bit realizing he was insulting your work. Frustrated you glared in his direction but decided not to make a retort back since well it could start something nasty between the both of you. And well, you weren’t in the mood. However, you were also a little annoyed with a certain someone else. Turning your attention back to Ciara, you glared at her intensely.

“This is all your fault you know,” You frowned slightly as you walked back to her guilty figure.

“It was most certainly not,” She tried to throw your words aside with her own. “Someone bumped into me! I didn’t mean to drop it!”

“Yeah, sure,” You walked past her towards the entrance ignoring her excuses. As she followed you with her words, you tuned out and started to feel a bit anxious about the recent event. You know he saw the drawing of him you drew today, so what did he think of it? And what was with that comment? Kind of rude, for a first time talking to him. Puffing out your cheeks, you went into denial and ignored your worried emotions.

“Who cares what he thinks,” You pushed his smart remark to the back of your head. “I don’t need his stupid approval.”

Approving your own thoughts, you nodded to yourself and made way to the doors and walked outside into the bright sunshine. You heard your friend huffing from behind causing you to look over your shoulder.

“What?” She felt pressured under your gaze. “I said I was sorry, didn’t I?”

    “No, you didn’t,” You deadpanned.

“Yeah, I did,” She sighed. “You probably just didn’t hear me like always…”

“Oh, sorry,” You started to feel guilty. “I know you didn’t mean it, it’s just that guy. He’s—”

“Throwing you for a loop, right?” She grinned at your confusion. “That’s just how he is.”

“How would you know?” You raised an eyebrow. “For someone you don’t really know, you seem to know a lot about him.”

“I-uh-er…” She struggled for words only to shrug slightly. “Okay, I admit we’ve bumped into each other here and there. Sort of…”

“So you’re dating him?” You asked, curious now.

“What!? No!” She blushed brightly. “Well…not yet at least.”

“What do you mean by not yet?” You cocked your head to the side.

“I-uh-well, you see,” She hesitated only to look off in another direction. You followed her gaze and found the Seido baseball team getting ready to board their bus. Your eyes soon found the man who insulted you before and brought attention back to your friend. She was blushing profusely, so much so that it reached her ears. “I haven’t exactly told him about how I feel and stuff…”

“Ohh,” You dragged your words out. Now you get it. She had a big crush on the man. That’s probably why she was here in the first place, to see him play. “Why don’t you just go talk to him? He seems like the chatty type of guy…” You remembered his words and frowned a bit. “Sometimes more than he should.”

“I can’t do that!” She freaked a bit. “What if I make a fool of myself? How am I going to cope with that embarrassment if I do? I’m not ready for that!”

“Well you won’t know until you try,” You repeated your father’s words. “Right?”

    “Yeaah…” She sighed. “You have a point…”

“Exactly,” You gave a curt nod, proud of the advice you were handing out. “So with that in mind—” You got behind her and pushed her towards the group where he was standing and talking. “—go talk to him.”

“But what do I even say!?” She started overthinking again.

“I don’t know,” You shrugged. “Maybe compliment him on his plays or talk about the game… Just say something normal.”

    “B-But—”

“No buts,” You gave her a look. “Just try it. You may be surprised on what may happen.”

“O-Okay, okay,” She sighed and looked back to where he was and took in a deep breath. “Alright.” She gave two small fist pumps for herself. “I can do this…” Saying that out loud, she smiled and headed over to the group only to walk up to him and tapped his shoulder. Smiling small at the sight, you watched him turn around and gave her a confused look before smiling at her words.

Sighing, you relaxed your tighten grip on your sketchbook not sure on what to do next. Wait for her? Yeah, you could but, do you really want to? You looked back at the scene and saw that he was smirking while your friend blushed a bit at the sight. Man, she was a mess in front of him. How can she be such a confident girl when she didn’t talk about him or just guys in general? It’s like she’s a completely different person when she does. Honestly, you were kind of jealous. You never really had that happen to you before. The only time you did was today with that guy but you were just nervous because he was looking at your work. Which he insulted.

Scowling at the memory, you watched as your friend laughed at something he must have said. You were about to turn away not wanting to watch anymore when suddenly he looked past her in your general direction. He must have seen your standing figure because he immediately flashed one of his smirks you grew accustomed to. Frowning, you looked away and took an interest in the crowd around you. Who does he think he is? Looking at me like that? Jerk. Not to mention, he’s rude. But…you do have to admit he does know what he’s doing on the field and kind of attractive. Opening your sketchbook, you flipped through the pages until you found the sketch of him only to be shocked at the sight. Right there on the page was a couple of numbers. Seven to be exact. Not to mention the words right by it. It read,

‘So you finally did it, huh?’

How did he? When did he? Why did he? And what the heck does he mean by that!? Especially after that comment he made to me directly!?

“Hey, [f/n],” You friend, Ciara, came running back to you grinning like an idiot. “Guess whaat?”

“Huh?” You looked up, immediately slamming your sketchbook shut with a loud thud. “Oh, what?”

Ignoring your action, she gave a little skip as she held up her phone screen and showed it to you with a huge smile plastered across her lips, “He gave me his number! And he wants to hang out with me sometime!”

“He what?” You processed the new information.

“I did what you told me,” She giggled. “And he gave me his number~. After we talked for a bit of course.”

“Oh, right,” You sighed. You forgot what she was trying to do with him.

“Huh…” Your friend stopped for a second noticing your sudden sourness. “What’s wrong [f/n]?”

“Oh! Nothing!” You waved away her worry with your hand and put on a fake smile. “It’s nothing, alright? But congrats! I told you all you had to do was talk to him.”

Yeah! You were right,” She smiled and gave you a hug of appreciation. “Thank you for pushing me to do it.”

“Yeah…” You patted her back before she let go and gave another skip before looking at her phone out of excitement.

“Oh crap,” Her eyes suddenly went wide. “I was supposed to leave fifteen minutes ago to meet my brother.” She quickly started to dial her brother’s number and started to make her way towards the train station. “Sorry to leave you like this but I’ll see ya later [f/n]!” She waved with a smile before disappearing into the crowd towards the station calling her probably worried brother.

“Right, see ya,” You waved back even though she couldn’t hear or see you anymore.

Sighing, you opened your sketchbook again and stared at the numbers he wrote on the page. What the heck is going on? You ran your fingers across the graphite, smudging it a bit before sighing once more. What were you going to do? You can’t call him now, not with how Ciara was acting. She would probably freak out if she found out he gave you his number before her. She tends to do that even though it’s something little like this. Not to mention, how can you even talk to him after what he said to you? Even though you want to know what he meant by ‘finally doing it’, this was really screwing with you. If only you could take your own advice you gave to Ciara but that was easier said than done now. You were definitely in a pickle now. Groaning at your predicament, you shut your sketchbook and stuffed it into your messenger bag and made your way towards the train station. What were you going to do…?
