    --------

They say that by a certain age a very particular sentence will start to sprout on a person’s body. It’s supposedly the very exact words your soulmate are going to say to you when you first meet them. You, of course, thought this was some kind of joke. However, when your friends words started appear your opinion started to change. Maybe this was a thing after all? But then where was yours? Will it ever appear?

    --------

    Day twenty-something.

Almost most of your friends had gotten their mark where as you haven’t. How long is it going to be? You already turned past the age its “supposed” to show up, so why didn’t it when you did? Is something wrong with you? Were you not mature enough or something? No, that’s not it. After all your best friend hasn’t gotten hers yet and she’s the same age as you. So it’s not that bad…right? Right?

“Oi! [f/n]-chan!” A hand was waving in front of your spaced view.

“Yeah?” You blinked away your concerning thoughts before finding your good friend, Carmen, smiling down at you. You could hear the many voices of the other students as they sat and ate with their own friends for lunch.

“Are you going to eat? Or just space out like that?” She laughed at your weirdness.

“I-I wasn’t spacing,” You blushed, stuffing some of your rice onto your mouth. You weren’t going to tell her you were thinking about the marks. For all she knows you hate those things! But do you really?

“Sure,” She smirked. She just loved picking on you when you least expected it. It was her thing. She giggled one last time before she suddenly got serious, catching you off guard. “Hey [f/n]-chan…you haven’t seen your, you know what, right?”

“Yeah…” You suddenly lost your appetite. “You of all people should know I don’t like talking about this…especially in public.”

“I know,” She sighed before a small sparkle appeared in her eyes. “But, you know—” She hesitated.

“I know what?” Your curiosity got the best of you. Even though you didn’t like this subject much you did want to be a good friend.

“I-uh-mine showed up…last night…” Her voice trailed off. She waited for your explosion to happen like it usually does when someone tells you about their mark but you didn’t. In fact, you just sat there shocked to the bone until a small smile started to form on your lips as your ignored your jealous thoughts.

“Really?” You tried to be a supporting friend.

“Yeah!” Her eyes showed her relief. “It showed up just right after I changed into my pajamas!”

“Well,” You started to eat again hoping to keep your jealous thoughts at bay. “What does it say?”

“Uh, that’s the hard part…” She blushed, embarrassed by her next words. “I couldn’t exactly read it last night or this morning…”

    “What? Why not?”

“Well,” She hesitated. “It’s because it’s on the back of my neck.”

“Seriously!?” Your eyes widened. You knew the mark appears randomly on your body but seriously on your neck!? That place is hard to look at without help not to mention a good mirror. No wonder she couldn’t look at it.

    “Could you maybe—”

“Look at it?” You smiled, knowing exactly what she wanted you to do.

“Yes please?” She gave you her puppy eyes. You could tell she was dying to know what her soulmate was going to say to her when they meet up. So being the good friend you were, you told her to turn around in her seat as she held up her hair so you could read it. Moving away the rest of her hair, you read it. It said:

    Excuse me.

“Uhh…” You felt a little confused by the new profound words.

“So what does it say?” She bounced with excitement.

“Well…” You cleared your throat. “It says, ‘Excuse me’.”

“Really?” Her eyes found yours. Hers were filled with as much as confusion as yours were. “Are you sure? Check it again.”

“That’s what it says,” You sighed sitting back in your seat. You watched her carefully almost as if you wouldn’t she might just crumble out of your sight. She settled hair back down only to grab for her food again in silence. You weren’t sure if this was a good sign or not. Was she about to break? Or maybe she was just thinking it over? But before you could figure it out you started to hear her giggles causing the ice in the air to break.

“Well that’s certainly an interesting first impression, right?” She flashed a smile over at you. Thank goodness she didn’t take it the wrong way…

“Yeah, sure is,” You gave a smile back but it wasn’t as brilliant as hers. In fact, it was weak. Only because you were starting to feel left out. She wasn’t the only one who had gotten her mark, in fact, most of the class had gotten theirs. Well almost the whole class… You were one of the few who hadn’t and you had to say, you hated it.

    ------- (Time Skip) --------

“Oke-chan!” A small yet squealy voice pierced through your wooden door of your room. You were laying back first, clothes ruffled randomly on top of your bed with arms extended before you reading a book. After what had happened today at lunch you had to find some way to get your mind out of that subject. So why not read a book or two?

“Yeah?” You yelled not allowing yourself to lose your spot on the printed page.

“Dinner’s ready!” She laughed before pounding on your door with more of her giggles. Sighing, you marked your spot and slowly slipped out of your bed. Feet touching fluffy carpet, you went to pull down your raised shirt when you spotted something odd. Curious, you slowly lifted your shirt up more only to find five short words.

    What are you doing here?

“Wha…?” Your breath hitched. It wasn’t until a minute had past when it had suddenly hit you. It was your mark! Your mark! Not your friend’s. Not your classmates. But YOURS! Smiling ear to ear, you quickly yanked your shirt down before opening your door and rushed down to your family. You couldn’t wait to tell them the big news. Not to mention your friends to.

    --------- (Time Skip) --------

“Carmen! Carmen! Carmen-chan!” You pushed through the main gate and caught up to your walking friend.

“Oh, hey [f/n]-chan,” She smiled. Oh, you couldn’t wait to tell her the big news. “What’s up?”

“Oh, you know, nothing out of the ordinary,” You tried to play it cool. “Just the usual. Like how nice the weather is and, I don’t know, my mark finally showed itself.”

“Yeah it is pretty nice out today—Wait!” Her head whipped over at your bouncing figure. “Did you just say what I thought you just said?”

    “Yup,” You smiled.

“It showed up!?” Her eyes grew rounder by the second.

“Uh-huh!” You nodded up and down, vigorously.

“No way!” Her lips formed a giant smile. “What did it say? You have to tell me! Tell me. Tell meee~!”

“Okay, okay,” You laughed at her excitement. You didn’t expect her to be so energetic when you finally broke the news to her. “It said, ‘What are you doing here?’ I think…”

“Really?” Her smile turned into a confused one.

“Yeah, here. I’ll even show you,” You slowly raised your shirt allowing her to see the five dark words on your bare skin.

“Yeah…I guess it does but,” She poked your skin. But? Why did she say that?

    “But what?” You nerves tightened.

“It has more…” Her voice sounded tight. Almost pitiful. You waited for her to say the rest but she just kept silent as she read your skin over and over.

“Well?” Your patience was growing thin.

“Well…” She paused. You swore you could hear her gulping from here. “There’s only two other words…”

“And?” You wanted to find a mirror so badly right then.

“It says,” She gave you a small frown as she stood back up while pulling down your shirt. “Get. Out.”

    “Get out?” Your heart froze.

“Yeah…that’s what it said…” She gave you time for that to settle in.

“No way…” Your hands started to shake with fear. What did that even mean? Was the first thing your soulmate said to you was an insult!? Or just a simple statement? One thing’s for sure, you didn’t want to find out… That news alone tore your heart into two. Who knows what those two words actually mean… But you sure as hell don’t want it to be a disaster. That’s the last thing you wanted right now…

    (To be continued…)

Here's her account! So don't be afraid to check her out, especially for the next part that she came up with (: --> :iconthe-tomatoboss:
