Thank you!! ^w^

---------

Shifting under the covers, you couldn’t help but to stare up at the ceiling in thought. You mean, how in the world did you manage to get yourself into this mess? The odds were definitely in your favor but you still somehow ended up here. Sighing at the thought, you pulled the covers over your head not wanting to look at the maroon colored walls. They reminded you too much of blood for some reason. After five minutes or so, you groaned in annoyance and threw off the blankets and gently set you bare feet on top of the cold planks of the floor. Shivering at the sudden coldness, you slowly stood up only to look down underneath the bed. You forgot the sword was under there… Maybe it’s safer down there for now.

So with another sigh, you grabbed for your phone and slowly walked over to the door. Creaking it open for a peek, you found the hallway dark like it’s supposed to be. Opening the door the rest of the way, you slowly walked out and turned to your right and headed down the stairs with your phone lighting the way.

“Since I’m up I might as well find some information on this guy…” You thought.

With that in mind you started to walk around his house until you finally stumbled across a door that was hidden in the background in the living room. Weird, why would it be over there? Confused and rather curious, you slowly walked up to only to test the lock. He left it unlocked. So with a victory smile you opened it as quietly as you could and snuck in. Once you had the door closed you turned around only to find yourself staring up at several bookshelves that lined the wall. Eyes round and big, you slowly walked up to them not sure on how to take this all in. One thing for sure though, he definitely has too much free time on his hands.

Looking back at the door in paranoia, you turned back only to walk up to one of the shelves with curiosity bubbling under your skin. What kind of books did he have? Information books? Journals? Or maybe he just liked reading novels? Setting a finger on top of one of the many spines, you slowly removed it from its home and smiled. It was a novel. A Shakespearean one at that.

“So he’s a classical kind of guy, huh?” You giggled at the thought.

Setting it back into its place, you looked down to another shelve only to find something rather out of place. Intrigued, you pulled it out with its spine between your fingers only to gasp at the sight. It was a history book. But it was just on England’s history alone. But why would he just have England and not the others as well? That’s weird. Maybe…he just likes their history better, right? So shrugging it off you put it back only to turn around and looked at his desk. It was neat and ordered like you expected so with another smirk, you started to open all of his drawers hoping to find better information on this guy.

But alas you couldn’t. Sighing in defeat, you were just about to give up when you saw a very interesting thing at the bottom of the bottom right drawer. Feeling it through curiosity you soon found out it was a lock. One that needed a key.

“Of course its needs a key…” You groaned. “Why can’t people be less paranoid these days…?”

So with a small disappointed look, you closed it only to stand back up and sighed. What were you going to do now? It’s not like he just leaves that key around in plain sight. If you were going to get in that drawer you’re going to have to be sneaky about it. As your head rolled around for an idea, you didn’t hear the door open as well as the person who entered after it.

“[f/n]!?” You heard Arthur’s voice ring with shock in front of you. Startled, you tuned back into reality only to find him standing there still in his normal clothes along with a book in his right hand while he gave you a rather confused look. “What are you doing in here?”

“O-Oh I-uh…” You stumbled for an excuse. That’s when your gaze looked back at the books. “Um-well you see…I couldn’t sleep so I just-uh-started walking around when I accidentally stumbled across this room…” You looked down at the ground trying to act all innocent hoping he would buy your little charade. “And well when I saw the books, I thought I could find one and read it…I thought it might help me fall asleep or something…”

“Oh…” His shoulders relaxed as he sighed with relief. “Well why didn’t you just come and tell me first? I could have helped…”

“I didn’t want to bother you…I thought you were already asleep…” You admitted still not looking him in the eyes. You just literally dodged a bullet there.

“Hardly,” He chuckled softly. “Just like you, I just couldn’t find myself falling asleep either…”

“Really?” You looked up with some surprise. You couldn’t help but to wonder why though.

“Yeah,” He smiled in thought. “Too much on my mind I guess…” He sighed before walking past you and slipped his book that he had, back to its original place. Once it was steady he smiled with satisfaction only to turn back around and gave you a small curve of his lips. “I was just about to head out to the backyard for some fresh air…would you like to join me?”

“Mm…” You thought about it. It sounded like a fun idea plus maybe you could slip some information from without him noticing to. “Okay, yeah sounds like a great idea…”

“Alright,” He smiled before he walked up and past you giving you the signal to follow. Before you knew it you were looking up at the cloudless sky with a smile. You forgot how beautiful the sky was. “It’s beautiful isn’t it?” You heard his voice next to you startling you a bit.

“Yeah…” You smiled up at the sky. “It is…”

A small silence feel over the both of you until you heard him sigh with some annoyance. Confused, you looked over at him only to find him a combing his hand through his hair as his eyebrows furrowed themselves together.

“What?” You asked curiosity bubbling under your skin. “What’s wrong?”

“Mm?” He hummed obviously not hearing your words as his emerald orbs met yours. “What did you say love? I didn’t quite hear you…”

“Oh…” You sighed looking down at the ground. “Nothing…”

“…” You could still feel his eyes boar into you as you waited for him to stop. You almost thought he was going to burn a hole in you if he didn’t stop. But soon enough a loud ring rang from inside his house causing him to sigh once again. He slowly turned away while mumbling, “Now who would call at this time of night?”

    “Anyone…” You thought.

You watched him enter the house only to slowly walk in after him hoping he wouldn’t hear your steps. Soon enough, you heard his voice echo with concern down the hall before it turned into panic at a mention of something on the other line. Peaking around the corner you saw his figure facing away from you as he was holding the phone to his right ear with a frown etched across his lips.

“What do you mean it was stolen?” He asked again obviously not happy. Instantly, you jerked knowing what he was talking about. It was about Excalibur. But why is he being told about it?

“…” His eyebrow twitched as he closed his eyes in thought.

“Crap…” You thought. “I need to leave this house soon…before he puts the two dots together…”

“Okay…” He answered the person on the other side. “Well what does this burglar look like?”

A silence followed right after as he was being told the description causing you to gulp nervously. What if he figured it out!? Then what will I do!? What will he do!? A few seconds later he sighed and slowly nodded even though the other person couldn’t see him.

“So you’re basically telling me that you didn’t get a good look at the person?” His frown deepened. Seconds passed. “Yes! It’s important! Bullocks…do you even realize what this means now!?”

“What this means?” You furrowed your eyebrows together. “What did he mean by that?”

“You know what don’t worry about the burglary now just go and try to find the sword,” He told them as he combed his hand through his hair. Seconds passed once more. “Yes, that sword is more important than anything right now…if you don’t find it soon who knows what’s going to happen to this country…or me…”

“What?” You raised an eyebrow. “So does that mean my theory is right? But how…?”

“Good,” He nodded slowly. “Alright, I’ll talk to you later…thank you, bye…” And with that he hung up only to lean against the wall arms crossed and sighed heavily. Feeling a bit exposed, you slowly walked away not wanting to get caught only to make your way around towards the stairs. Once you were able to get up them without him noticing you quickly made your way back to your room feeling quite paranoid.

Throwing open your door, you quickly skidded to a halt in front of the bed and fell on your hands and knees before reaching under it for the sword. Hands gently wrapping around it, you slowly pulled it out with ease and sighed with relief. It’s still here…Thank goodness. Who know what would have happened if you didn’t have it…

“But…” You looked down at the fabric covering it. “What should I do…? I can’t really just hand it over to him. Let alone he’ll most likely throw me into jail…plus there’s my boss…”

Sighing at your predicament, you slowly stood up only to walk over to the dresser with a small frown. The only thing you can do now is to run, run away as fast as you could. But…you really didn’t want to… You wanted to stay and talk to Arthur and have fun like a normal young girl but that can never happen…

“I’m a known thief…” You frowned as your grip tightened on the sword before you opened the dresser. “Who am I to say that he even thinks me as a friend anyways…he’s probably just being polite to me…” Pulling out your old clothes, you slowly set the sword down on top of it only to slip off your gown and put on your clothes with another sad sigh as you felt your heart fall. “Why did it have to be him?”

Zipping up your jacket, you quickly grabbed the sword before slinging it over your arm and walked over to the door. Reaching for the knob, you were about to open the door when you suddenly heard the front door being smashed open. Jumping for the scare, you stayed silent listening to the yells and grunts coming from downstairs. What the heck was going on!? Was someone breaking in!? If so, why? Wait, Arthur’s down there!

Yanking open the door, you bolted out your room and ran down the stairs nearly falling down in the process. Once your feet hit the last step, you sprinted over to where the noise was coming from only to freeze upon the sight. In front of you was a couple of your “friends” had Arthur up against the wall at gun point obviously not taking any kind of struggle. And when you meant friends, they were more like your co-workers than anything else.

“H-Hey!” You got their attention causing them to snicker in response.

“Oh would you look-y here,” The one holding Arthur’s head at gun point, laughed. “[f/n]’s found a new friend…to bad I’m about to rip him to shreds…”

“What!?” You watched her carefully. You weren’t sure if she was bluffing or not.

“Let me go,” Arthur growled impatiently at the others. Why wasn’t he scared?

“And why would I do that Mr. Kirkland?” She tilted her head with a sickening smile.

“Tch—” Arthur looked away only to bring his gaze to your widened one. Not even a second later his eyes widened themselves at the sight of something over your shoulder. Confused, you looked over only to find the sword unwrapped and glimmering in the light as you gasped. You couldn’t believe you let this happen! “[f-f/n]?” His voice cracked a bit with confusion and shock. “W-Where did you get that?”

“I-I—” You tried to find your voice but was rudely interrupted with your co-workers laugh.

“Oh this is just too good,” She snickered. “I can’t believe you let yourself to be this open [f/n]…” She suddenly frowned and looked over at your with deadly eyes. “It’s quite disappointing to see you like this…”

    “W-What?” You whispered, confused.

“Oh, I guess you didn’t hear the news…” Her lips turned upward. “Our boss has dismissed you of your mission…” Her smile widened. “In other words you’re no longer allowed to be here…let alone you’re a disgrace to his company…”

“So what?” You growled. “I didn’t like it anyways…”

“Tch—you’re lying,” She frowned again, only to turned her gaze back to Arthur who had his head hung low now. “Plus…I think you have other reasons that helped you push away from us…”

“No I don’t,” You tried tricking her. How in the world could she read you so well!? It was unnerving at times…

“Oh on the contrary,” She set the ignition into place causing you to flinch at the sound. “I think you do…”

“D-Don’t!” Once you saw her intentions. She was going to shoot Arthur! You’re friend!

“Sorry my dear,” Her smile turned up once more as her gaze locked onto Arthur’s head. She was going to do it, no matter what! But why!? If only there was some way to stop her… That’s when you felt the metal of the sword behind you. That’s it!

“W-Wait!” You yelled yanking off the sword only to hold it out to her. “Here…this is what you’re here for, correct?”

“…” She stopped only to side glance you with a slight frown. “Yes that is one reason…”

“Then take it,” You took a step forward telling her to take it already.

“…” She dropped her arm only to turn all the way around with hands on her hips. “Why should I? What reason do I have to take it before killing this man…?”

“Because…” You faltered, shaking a bit in hesitation. You can’t tell her you like him! That would just make her want to kill him even more.

“Aw, poor girl,” She gave you a fake concerned look. “You’re shaking…”

“S-Shut up!” You tightened your grip on the sword. You seriously hated her guts!

“Aww, did I make the tough one cry?” She teased you, snickering. A couple of the others joined in causing you to compose yourself. You can’t blow up now, this isn’t the time to.

“Wait, don’t tell me… Are you going to go home to your mommy and bawl your eyes out now?” She continued. She was seriously asking for it…

“Shut up,” You warned her quietly, dropping your arm hanging your head low not letting her see your glares.

“Oh my,” She gasped dramatically as the others snickered again. “She’s actually trying to warn us…”

“…” You frowned only to hear her click the ignition into place again causing you to look up. She was smiling wickedly as her finger pressed ever so close to the trigger causing your frown to bury itself deeper. You were done with your boss’s company, you hated their plans and ideas. Most of the times it made you sick to your stomach.

“No matter,” She tilted her head looking back at Arthur, who was staying quiet. “He needs to die—”

“No!” You yelled out just as you whipped the sheathed sword up, hitting the gun out of her hand making it being thrown across the room. She immediately growled in pain only to glare at you as she held her hand. You couldn’t help but to smirk at her pain, she seriously deserved it.

“You’re going to pay for that!” She warned you.

“Yeah, so?” You kept the sword pointed at her as you moved in front of Arthur so you were now in between him and her. “Does it really look like I give a crap?”

“Why you little brat,” She growled. “That sword belongs to—”

“To Arthur,” You completely her sentence for her. You weren’t on their side anymore. After all Arthur was your friend and you weren’t just going to stand by and watch. “It’s his and you have no right to take it or kill him for that matter…”

“Oh?” She suddenly laughed hysterically. “How so?”

“Because I said so,” You frowned not letting your guard down. You know these guys to well, if they saw any kind of opening they were going to take it, no questions asked. But you’re not going to give one to them. So with a smile of your own, you slowly unsheathed the sword letting them take it all in. There was only one way out of this… And that is to do the unthinkable.

After a second or two, you slowly turned the sword around handing her the hilt of the sword. Immediately she furrowed her eyebrows as you waited patiently for her to take it. Hearing Arthur disapprove behind you, you slightly smiled a little. He had no idea what you were doing and that’s the way it should be. After all if he knew he would most likely stop you or try to anyways.

“Take it already,” You brought your attention back to her. She quickly growled and took it from your grasp and smirked, she knows you have a plan. But the thing is, she doesn’t know what it is yet…

“What’s up your sleeve [f/n]?” She eyed the sword then to you. Tilting your head you only shrugged not giving her the answer she wanted, this only resulted in her growling before she tightened her grip on it and took a swing at you not caring if it sliced you in half. Of all the things you could do, you smirked. She just fell right into your trap…
